Stash Report

Happy August! It has been a hot one the last few days here in Arizona. I will be off to SD later this week and looking forward to a little cooler weather.

Another finish this week! This panel was gifted to me by Sandi, along with the red and neutral fabric. I added the flag fabric that was purchased on my recent trip to Prescott. I did not realize it was actually from the same fabric line. I used a pattern from Villa Rosa Quilt patterns. There are 100's of patterns on their website that can be downloaded for $2. Many are very simple and are perfect for Charity quilts. I have now finished all the America 250 quilts that I wanted to make over June/July. Now I am back to working on the Dog Quilt.

Here are numbers for this week.
Used this week: 6 yards.
Used YTD: 100.5 yards.
Purchased this week: 0yards.
Purchased YTD: 41.5 yards.
Net Fabric Used YTD: 59 yards.

This is the last of the three patriotic quilts that I have been working on in July. Was hoping to get all three finished, but it is not looking like I will make it. I am going to look at my panel book to see how I might want to set this one off, so this project may take a bit longer.

In the meantime, I am back to working on the puppy quilt for my granddaughter. This has been on the back burner for awhile and it is time to get the dogs all appliqued down and get this one in the finished column.

Stash Report

I was able to finish three of these this week! They will be added to the quilting que and hope to get to them soon. My quilting que is filling up!!

On our trip to Prescott, we stopped at Cloth Plus Quilt shop in Prescott Valley. If you are ever in the area this is a great one to check out. Nothing fancy, just a great selection of quilting cottons, and they carry some decorator fabrics also. It is run by a women and her son and they are the nicest people.

Some great conversational neutrals.

Backings for projects that are in the works.

So here is the damage this week!

Used YTD: 94.5 yards.

This is the last of three charity quilts that I am working on this week from our Sew-in yesterday. It is  called conversation bricks and is made from all of the novelty fabrics that I had in my stash. I had  enough cut out to make 3+ of these and hope to get them all done this week. These were super easy and fun to cut out and make and I may do a few more with other fabrics from my stash. They finish at 40x48, a perfect size for Project Linus. We are off to Prescott tomorrow to escape from the heat for a few days. It is supposed to be about 115 over the weekend, the hottest days so far this summer!

We are having a monsoon week here in Arizona. Above is one of the beautiful sunsets that we are treated to when the monsoon arrives. Not much rain for us yet, but that could change over the next few days.

I am making great progress on A little Freedom. Fabrics from Sandi arrived and I was able to get all the blocks finished. Next up will be sewing them to the center. I will have to wait a bit, as I had to order more of the red fabric for the borders. Also ordered a toile America 250 fabric for the backing. As soon as they arrive this one will be done! One more patriotic quilt to go this month and it should be a pretty easy one to put together as it starts with another panel. Looking forward to getting these all finished,

Stay cool and happy sewing!

Hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July and were out celebrating for America's 250th Birthday.

I am sticking to my RWB theme this month with more blocks QOV blocks. The centers were a BOM that I won awhile back. I added the strips to make them 12" finished and will donate all for our QOV projects. This week I will also be working on A little freedom during my Tuesday Sewing group. Hope to get more of the blocks done and get this one into the finished column.

Have a great week!

This week has been a week of cutting. With the flag quilt on the longarm this week getting quilted, I have been cutting out the blocks for the next quilt. Eight blue blocks and 8 red blocks. I came up a bit short on the red fabrics, but Sandi is helping me out and sending a couple to me so I can finish this up.
I still need to purchase more of the red fabric, and hope to hit some fabric stores on our next road trip coming up.

Enjoy your week!

Almost finished with the flag quilt. This will be the next one up for my patriotic quilts that I am working on in honor of America 250. This is a pattern by  Primitive Gatherings and I will be using what is left from the flag quilt. Hopefully I will have enough to make all the blocks, thought I will have to purchase more of the red and background.

Happy Sewing!

Here's where I am this week on "Our Flag Stands for Freedom. More star blocks to make!

Yesterday at our guild meeting, I helped give a presentation on Storm at Sea Quilts. It was fun researching this topic and learning all the different variations of this block along with how many different ways there are to make it. That is me, on the left, and two of our members with our versions of Storm at Sea.

Happy June!
The Dog quilt is on hold until I get my Bernina back from the shop. It is being serviced. So this week I am working on more spool blocks for my Bonnie Hunter Spoolin Around Quilt. This will be my ongoing project at my Tuesday sewing group for the for seeable future.

Spoolin Around

After all the spool blocks I will still need to make a number of 4 patches for the border. I am hoping to finish this one this year sometime!

Thanks to all who have given everything for our freedoms. May we remember them today and always.

Dog Blocks are on the design wall. I still have quite a few more to go. They will get stitching around the applique in black thread to help them stand out a bit. I am not sure about the dark blue at the top. His black eye and nose don't show up to well. I think I will wait until all the blocks are done before I decide what to do.

Have a wonderful week!

Stash Report

I missed a couple of posts last week, May is just flying by and I don't know where the time has gone. Not much progress in my sewing room, but I did finish the lunch bag above. It was a kit that included the insul bright batting, webbing and zipper. I just added fabric. Let's just say this is a one and done, and will not be making another one of these. All those layers were a bit tough to sew. But it is finished and I will be using it as a lunch bag for our sew days. No Adds to the stash.

Happy Belated Mothers day to all the mothers out there. I had a wonderful long weekend in SD visiting family and enjoyed out time together.

Spoolin Around is on the design wall. But I realized I have a long way to go. Many more spool blocks will need to be made before I can start putting this together. I may make it a bit smaller, as the finished size is 90x98. I would just have to figure out how to adjust the borders.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Happy May Day! April flew past and now we are into May. We have had beautiful weather here in the desert, but it won't be long before things heat up.

QOV blocks are on my design wall this week. These are for my Longarm group and will go into one of our QOV quilts that we make each season.

More blocks underway for Spoolin Around. Next week I am off to San Diego for Mother's day so not much sewing will get accomplished.

Fish School is still on my design wall this week, but it is ready to sew into rows with sashing and cornerstones. I am also working on another Bonnie Hunter, Spoolin Around quilt, which was a leader and ender project from 2012.

This one has been in the works for awhile, as it takes over 650 spool blocks that finish at 3". I am about halfway there.

Have a great week!

After a fun couple of days in Prescott, I am back and ready to get cooking to my projects this week. Above is one of the beautiful cactus flowers that are in bloom. Soon the Saguaros will get started, usually late may early June.

Aren't these blocks cute? These are two small-3" blocks that I paper pieced using Carol Doak book and CD. I have had the book for awhile and wanted to make some small blocks to use for cards or maybe pin cushions? Not sure yet.

More charcoal fabrics were found on my mini shop hop to 3 quilt shops in the Prescott area. I think I may have enough now for my next Bonnie Hunter, Moon Flower quilt. Sandi, do you need any of these?? My Bernina is now at the shop for a check up, so not sure how much sewing will happen this week. It may just be cutting, prepping and planning. I guess I can set up my Janome if I get desperate!

This was a kit I purchased sometime ago and is a design by Lori Smith. I am off later this week on a birthday trip to Prescott. We hope to get in some hiking, shopping- there are a couple of quilt shops in the area, and relaxing. No design wall this week and not much sewing will be happening. Catch up with you all next week!
