Design Wall Monday

This week I am working on the second clue of the Bonnie Hunter Mystery, En Provence. All pieces are cut and ready to sew. Hope to have some time this week to finish all before the next clue on Friday. I still have a few more four patches to sew also.

There are 64 of these units to sew together and will look like the ones below. These are a picture of Bonnie's finished units.

Have a great week and hope you have time to get some sewing in. See more at Patchwork Times.

I am also getting together fabrics to Bonnie Hunter's new mystery quilt which will be starting next week. One clue is released each week starting November 25th, with the reveal in January.  Below are the fabrics from my stash that I have pulled together so far.

On the Road!

This week finds me in Mesa Arizona at the Wandermere Conference Center for the
Southwest Statler Sibling Retreat. I am very lucky to have a Statler Stitcher on my Gammil Longarm and was able to get a spot at this retreat. We will have two days of instruction from Sharon Perry from House of Creations. Sharon is from New Zealand and designs some great digital quilting patterns along with teaching all of the different capabilities of the Statler Software.

Along with Sharon, we have an evening with Helen Robinson from Sew Kind of Wonderful, teaching some hands on free hand. Looking forward to learning some of those great modern designs from Helen. Below are some of the quilts on display.

Design Wall

Nothing new on my design wall this week. Still working on Midnight Flight. I have 9 more blocks to put together and then the border units to complete. Yes, this is a labor intensive quilt, but it is a real beauty!

Sunday Stash Report

Only a small finish this week. Sandi and I completed our quilt for Sunshine Quilt Guild Opportunity. We will be selling tickets in November and December, with the drawing at our December guild meeting. The pattern was based on a Bonnie Hunter pattern called Charlotte's baskets. This was completely made with leftovers from other projects and with fabric from our stash. All that is left is to quilt and bind.

Design Wall Monday

Are you feeling Fall yet??  We do get a little Fall color here in San Diego, but not as much as some other parts of the nation.

This week on the Design Wall is the a completed block for Sunshine Quilt Guild. This was super easy and done up in Halloween colors. Look forward to seeing what all the other blocks look like next Tuesday when our Guild meets. Maybe I will win this one!

Yes, still working on Midnight Flight! Will I ever be done??? Check back later in the week to see if I make any progress!

Have a great week and look for more design walls at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report

Still no finishes! So the stash report remains the same. Working on Midnight Flight with 9 of the 32 blocks completed. Still a long way to go on this quilt. Good thing that my October UFO is already done! That gives me all month to finish Midnight Flight and maybe, just maybe, get caught up on my two other block of the month projects.

I am also working on a quilt with Sandi over at Kwiltnkats that will be a raffle for Sunshine Quilt Guild. We will sell tickets for November and December meetings and draw the winner at our December meeting. Here is what it is looking like so far.

We still have 7 more basket blocks to make and are auditioning fabrics for the sashing and borders. So far so good. We hope to get this near completion by the end of the week.

So here are the unchanged numbers. Hope yours are better than mine! Have a great week-it is feeling like fall! See more reports at Patchwork Times.

Design Wall

Happy Wednesday!
No Stash Report this week, the numbers have not moved. On my Design Wall is Midnight Flight, my September UFO. I am still working on the different units that go into the blocks. Below are the 436 four patches that go into this quilt. Next up I will be working on the rest of the chevron units, and then the black/neutral half square triangles. Hopefully, soon, I will get some of the blocks together! This quilt is very labor intensive with all the different units, and lot's of them, that go into this quilt.

436 four patches.

Last night was our first meeting of the season for Sunshine Quilters, We got caught up on all that is happening for the coming year, had an Ice Cream Social and saw some great quilts during sharing.
Below is our opportunity Quilt for 2016/2017. I love this quilt and if I don't win, I will probably add it to my list to make.

Sunshine Opportunity Quilt

We also had fun playing quilt Bingo for fat quarters! Unfortunately I did not have a winning card. The smarties were our markers!

Enjoy the rest of the week and hope you get some quality sewing time in! See more design walls at Patchwork Times.

As we remember 9/11.

It is hard to believe that 15 years have passes since that terrible day when planes flew into buildings here in the US. It changed our entire world and way of life, and we are still fighting the war.
Like many of you, I will always remember where I was that day. Early in the morning for those of us on the West Coast, and getting kids ready for school. The enormity of planes being hijacked and flown into buildings hit home for us, as my DH was a pilot for United Airlines at the time, and on a trip down to Central America. Needless to say he was safe, but stuck there for several days.

Take a moment today to remember all those that gave their lives that day, and those that continue to fight for our freedoms.

And the Winner's are....

Congratulation's to Karen Rowland #11, you have won the Journal and charm squares!

The winner of Edyta's book is #5 Debra Broyles! Congratulations Debra!

San Diego Quilt Show and a Giveaway!

This year marks the 35th Anniversary of the San Diego Quilt Show, which opened Wednesday Night, downtown at the Convention Center. It runs through Sept 3. I always look forward to this show, with many beautiful quilts on display, and lot's of vendors to shop.

This year the guest artist is none other that Edyta Sitar from Laundry Basket Quilts. While I was unable to go on Preview Night this year to see her presentation,  I did stop by her booth to see her amazing quilts, and hear a mini presentation on her entry into quilting where she talked about some of her beautiful quilts. Edyta also gave a demo, using her templates and technique on making a compass blocks. It was super easy and with great results. Her quilts were amazing, using lots of scraps, and I loved them all!
