Design Wall Monday

In Boulder, Co today, so nothing to share on my design wall. I will be working on my Calendar Quilts when I get home. These are mini quilts for each month, a project started a number of years ago. This is my UFO for July and I have 4 completed with 8 more to go.

My Sister, Niece and I,  headed out for a hike this morning, to Flagstaff Mountain, through Gregory Canyon. A beautiful hike with a view of Boulder and Mountains.

Stream along our hike.

Mountains on backside of trail.

It was raining on our way back to the trailhead, as you can see from the clouds above. We made it back to the car, just a little bit wet. Next we headed back to Pearl Street for lunch and more shopping. Thats where I found this cute fabric shop right off the main street called Fabricate. Mostly modern fabrics with some craft and clothing fabrics. Very cute and very friendly staff. Check out my Stash report next week to see what I found.

We were off to wedding later in the day.

The ariline had other plans with my flight being cancelled, and next flight I could get was Sunday morning. So I missed the Zip lining, but made it in time for the wedding on Monday Night.

Today, after my sister picked me up from the airport, we headed to Pearl Street in Boulder for some Lunch and shopping. Tonight is also the rehersal dinner.

Design Wall Monday

Happy Summer Solstice-today is the longest day of the year!

On my design wall this week is Hocus Pocus, made from the Fig Tree line of fabrics called All Hallows Eve. I just love these fabrics! All the pumpkin blocks were completed over the weekend and I will be working on the 7 remaining star blocks and then putting it all together. A purchase will be in the works for a backing for this one.

Hocus Pocus

Leftover fabrcis from this project will be used to make the small wallhanging below called
Pumpkin Trio. Lots of Fall quilts going on this week in my sewing room.

Pumpkin Trio

I will be off to Colorado on Friday for my Nephew's wedding in Bolder. The wedding is not until Monday, so we  will be doing some hiking, river rafting and Ziplining while we are there. Should be a fun long weekend for me. Enjoy your week!

Sunday Stash Report

Today is the last day of our heat wave and tomorrow we cool down to around 100! Still hot, but definetly not as bad as last week.

A finish to report this week, Darling Pinwheel, which will be for my new granddaughter due to arrive by July 1. Only a couple of more weeks. I will be heading to SD mid July to see her and the rest of the Grandkids. Still no name yet, so I am just calling her Baby Girl. It will be quilted up this week and then binding.

Darling Pinwheel

Also completed and all caught up are my Vintage Christmas blocks. I just need to add some embrodiery to a couple of the blocks.  July will bring the setting fabrics and then borders in August. This one is getting close to completion.

Design Wall Monday

This week I will be working on a baby quilt and prepping applique for Michigan.

Darling pinwheels

I also realized that my strip bins are overflowing and I am in need of a project to use them up. Will be looking through my Bonnie Hunter books to see if there is one to use up all the 2.5" strips that I have.

Vintage Blocks ready to sew.

Also on the schedule this week is finishing up the blocks for Vintage Christmas. This is the last month of blocks and then we start the setting and borders. It is nice to have this mostly caught up.

On the Longarm is Easy Street, another Bonnie Hunter pattern from 2013. This is the last of the big Bonnie Hunter quilts to be finished. Next up will be a couple of custom quilting projects.

A lot to keep me busy during our heatwave this week. Have a great week!

Sunday Stash Report

This week will be a hot one here in AZ with temps reaching 119- Ouch! It will be a week of indoor activities- so hope to get a few more projects going.

A finish this week, Michigan! The top is done, but will be working on the applique for the next few months. From a stash standpoint, I am calling it finished. It turned out really pretty, I love these fabrics and it will look even better with all the applique in the border.

Michigan

Michigan finished at 76x76 and was too big to get a picture on my design wall.  Also completed was this cute pillow for my granddaugher Violet. It will be her eight birthday next week. so thought this would be a cute gift with a book. My friend Joyce did the embroidery for me.

No additions to the stash this week. More finishes to come.

Used this week: 15 yards
Used YTD: 111 yards.
Purchased this week: 0 yards
Purchased YTD:  85.0 yards.
Net Fabric Used YTD: 26 yards.

Have a great week!

Design Wall Monday

This weeks focus will be to sew together the center of Michigan, and to work on the outer borders. I hope to also start on the prep for all the applique.

Michigan

Rows are going together, and I started from the bottom, as these pieces kept falling off the design wall. This is one quilt where you definitely need to keep track of which way you are sewing the blocks together. So far so good.

More pieces cut out for the border section. You can see the finished quilt below, and how the border will look when complete. So pretty!

I have a busy week ahead, hope you are also working on something fun!

Sunday Stash Report

This week a finish and a couple of adds. First the Finish, Sewing Baskets by Laundry Basket Quilts is complete!  Well, at least the top is finished. It will go into the quilting que and hopefully be completely done in the next few weeks. My goal is to keep up with quilting my own quilts this year along with catching up on the backlog.

Sewing Baskets

Arriving last week were more neutral backgrounds needed to finish Michigan. Check back tomorrow to see my progress.

Updated numbers for the week:

Used this week: 12 yards
Used YTD: 96.0 yards.
Purchased this week: 5 yards
Purchased YTD:  85.0 yards.
Net Fabric Used YTD: 11 yards.

Almost half way through the year and I am at least staying in the black.
Have a great week!
