My goal is to complete 5 blocks a day this week and have the blocks done by Superbowl Sunday!
Then will lay out on floor with all the sashing and corner units and start sewing during the game.

Enjoy the week and hope you get in some sewing time!

Road 2 CA Classes

Sandi and I attended two classes during our time at R2CA quilt show. The first was by Janna Thomas of Bloc Loc rulers, called Magic Mariners Star Compass. There were many different blocks that could be made form the two sets of rulers for the class, and we learned a lot of new techniques from Janna. We always love taking classes from Janna, and her husband Paul is quite the comedian!

Sewing away!

Our second class was Antique Rose Star with Barbara Black. This was Barbara's first time teaching at Road and she did a great job. Sandi and I chose to make our blocks smaller than the class sample and used a 2' kite template from Marti Michell

I had time to complete one block and have another ready to sew together. I really enjoyed this technique which took a complicated block with y-seams, and made it super simple and fast. If you ever have a chance to take a class with Barbara, I highly recommend it.

Design Wall Monday

Greetings from Mammoth Lakes, where DH and I are on our annual January ski trip. This is where I get to work on one of my projects, after we spend a few hours on the slopes.

This week I am working on Bonnie Hunter's, On Ringo Lake Mystery. I did not have much time during December to keep up with all the clues, so I will be working it this week to hopefully catch up and get this quilt completed. I was able to get clue 1 complete, and had all of 2 an 3 cut out below and ready to sew.

All lined up and ready to sew!

A big pile of sewn pieces

Lots of pressing going on today and cutting for clue #4. Next up, sewing the brown and aqua triangle units.

Brown and Aqua pieces
Next up will be more flying geese! Below is also is the block completed for Sunshine Quilt Guild January Meeting. I did not end up making it to the meeting, so it will go to the lucky winner in February.

All for now, check back tomorrow to see what I started in my classes at Road 2 California Quilt show last week!
