Design Wall

Getting closer to finishing Bountiful. All the applique is complete and will be sewing together this week for a finish on Sunday.

Next project will be another UFO Magic Mariners Compass by Janna Thomas. This was started at Road to California quilt show two years ago.

I will be using scrapp fabrics from my stash. Two blocks are complete with 23 more to go if I make the full size version. May make it a bit smaller.

My two blocks.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Design Wall

This week on the Design Wall is Bountiful by Nancy Rink. I have finished all I can up to getting the side panel applique done.

All of the applique is prepped and I have one side completed. More sewing to do in the evenings while watching our series of the moment, Bosch on Amazon. We are currently on season 3.

Also in the works is a project, that I will have to share at a later date, as they will be christmas gifts. Don't want to give it away! Enjoy the rest of your week!

Design Wall Monday

This week I will be finishing the Pumpkin Runner and starting on Bountiful. Pumpkin Runner needs one more block to complete and then put it all together.

Bountiful is a pattern by Nancy Rink, and was purchased as a kit for a class that was supposed to be held at R2CA a couple of years ago. The class was canceled, so still had kit to make.

These two projects should keep me pretty busy this week! Hope you are working on something fun this week.

Happy November!

Dawn's Early Light

Dawns Early Light is finally finished! So nice to have this off my plate. I am thinking of a different name- something more patriotic for this one. Next up is to finish the pumpkin table runner and then on to my next UFO- Bountiful by Nancy Rink. Good name for a November quilt.

Along with this I hope to get the Pumpkin Table Runner completed and ready to quilt. Will keep up the pumpkin themed quilts in my house until Thanksgiving, so will be fun to get this one done and out on the dining room table.

Sunday Stash Report

Two weeks gone by and still no change in the stash. Nothing finished and nothing added, but I am getting closer. String blocks are done and cut into triangles with all the papers removed. This is a my chore that I do while watching TV.

Next up is sewing them back together with a red strip in the center. Then I am on my way to getting the borders on  Dawns Early Light! Boy, this one has been quite the process and I am looking towards a couple of smaller, easier projects when this is done.

Updated Numbers below. Check back for to see what is on the design wall-maybe something that will be finished this coming week!

Used this week: 0 yards
Used YTD: 154.0 yards.

Design Wall Monday

Dawn's Early Light is still on my design wall, or floor, as it is too big for the wall. Progress is being made on the blue string blocks that will be the biggest part of the border. I am about half way there.

Just so I would not get too bored with this project, I am also working on the pumpkin table runner. Two more blocks complete and two more to go.

The table runner might be done first! Happy Sewing!

Sunday Stash Report

Back from our road trip to Winslow AZ, for DH birthday. Yes, we did get a picture "Standing on the Corner in Winslow AZ"  from that famous song "Take it Easy" by Jackson Browne and Glen Frey. I think this is the only thing that Winslow is famous for. 😁

Of course a side trip to Holbrook, and a visit to PaintedDesert Quilts was in order. This meant a few adds to the stash this week.  More reds and blues and some buttons below. Have used up a lot of blues for Dawns Early Light.

Fat quarters.

I could not pass up the pin fabric or the orange with spider webs- both will find a home in future projects.

No finishes this week, but getting closer! Have a great week!

Used this week: 0 yards
Used YTD: 154.0 yards.
Purchased this week: 6 yards

Design Wall

This week finds me working on the next set of  blue string blocks for Dawns Early Light. This will be the last step and will finish off the borders.

Strings and papers

I needed to start on a small project with a quick finish after all the work on Dawns Early Light, so pulled out this kit for a tablerunner purchased awhile back. Pattern is from the Witch's Night Out book, by Sew Emma.  Here are the first 4 blocks, with hopes to get a few more complete inbetween the string blocks. Aren't these little pumpkins so cute?!

Four Pumpkins

Tablerunner project

While I probably won't get either project finished this week, hope to make a dent in the string blocks and get a few more of the pumpkin blocks done. Have a great week.

Sunday Stash Report

No finishes or adds in the last two weeks, just busy working away on Dawns Early Light. This has been a very labor intensive quilt with a lot of pieces and steps. So far I have the center and sashings on. I keep checking to make sure all the friendship stars are going the right way. 😅

Two more rows on sashing to go and then on to the string pieced border. Love how it is looking and just order a backing from Missouri Star Quilts called Constitution. Thought that would be fitting for this Red/White and Blue beauty.

Also finished last week are my September Blocks for Heart & Hand Applique group. October's blocks are picked out and ready to be prepped. This has been a fun monthly project and very portable.

September Blocks

No changes in my numbers, but a big one will come when Dawns Early Light is finished!

Used YTD: 154.0 yards.

Design Wall

This week on the design wall will be sewing together the units for Dawbs Early Light. Pinwheels and Triangles are done and will be sewn to the string units made earlier.

Below are 16 blocks that will be put together to make one big block. I will need to make 9 on the big blocks for the center of the quilt and then all the borders.

This is definately one involved project, but I know I will love the results. Enjoy your week and Happy Sewing!

Design Wall

Hope you are enjoying your Labor Day! We are spending the day getting ready to leave on a road trip tomorrow to Montana. My Dawns Early light will be coming with me and hope to make some progress on all the units that need to be completed.

Dawn's Early Light- Bonnie Hunter

I hope to get this quilt completed by the end of September, before the next UFO is called. I have 3 more to go for this year.

We will be taking our time, so I hope to hit a few quilt shops on the way. Looking for a couple of backings, and some cat fabrics for Sandi- check out the Cat project she is working on here.

Have a great week!

Sunday Stash Report

Happy Labor day Weekend!

It is a hot weekend here in AZ, with temps reaching around 110. Glad we will be heading out of town on Tuesday for cooler temps!

I was able to get the Snowflake Mystery finished this week. There were a couple of options for the center block: a sawtooth star block, a ninepatch, or to just leave it a plain block. I opted for the star in the center and added 2.5" strips for the borders. I am calling this one done and I like the way it turned out. The best thing is all the fabrics are from my Stash.

Thank you Sue for hosting this one and I am looking forward to seeing how others in our group finished this one.

Usage is getting better. Hope to hit 100 yards by the end of the year, and not add too much more to the stash,

Used this week: 7.5 yards
Used YTD: 154.0 yards.
Purchased this week: 0 yards
Purchased YTD:  76.5 yards.
Net Fabric Used YTD: 77.5 yards.

Enjoy your holiday tomorrow!

Design Wall Monday

Stings and lots of strings this week! Working on all the string blocks for Dawns Early light. Hope to get everything prepped to take along on our trip to Whitefish Montana next week. Will be bringing the Janome on this trip to sew together the units and blocks.

Neutral Strings.

String Blocks

Also on my plate for this week are cutting the rest of the blue half square triangles. This quilt takes a lot of cutting and prep work, but it will be worth it in the end.

Strips ready to cut.

I hope to also find time to finish up the Snowflake Mystery quilt this week. It will be nice to have a finish for the Stash report.

Have a great week!

Design Wall Monday

Lot's of cutting going on this week. I have 500 red/neutral half sqaure triangles for Dawns Early Light, and still need about 140 more.

These are most of the pieces for the friendship star blocks. More cutting to come with 216 blue/neutral half square triangle needed.

Pieces are also cut and ready to sew for the 3rd installment of Snowflake Mystery quilt. Clue 4 will relase on Friday.

This will be my week-  a lot of cutting and a bit of sewing!
Happy Sewing!

Sunday Stash Report

A long awaited finish! Lilibet's Garden was started in 2006 and I finally sewed down the last leaf! It is looking a bit wonky and will take some miracle quilting to get all the puckers tamed, but with a little extra batting and some crafty quilting I might be able to make it work. Stay tuned...

Lillebet's Garden

This quilt finishes at 95x95- yes a big one. But with that it used up quite a bit of stash, 20 yards total with backing and binding.

Not a finish, but working on block 3 of our Snowflake mystery quilt. Below are blocks 1 and 2 together. Not sure it this will be the final layout, but more to come.

No stash enhancements this week! Below are updated numbers.

Used this week: 20.0 yards
Used YTD: 146.5 yards.

Design Wall

This week I will be working on Dawns Early Light by Bonnie Hunter. This is my August UFO, that most likely will spill over into September. As usual there are a lot of pieces in this one, along with string blocks that take time to complete.

Dawns Early Light

Also in progress are the blocks for the Mystery Quilt that Sue is hosting for our retreat group. Since we can't get together this year, Sue organized a fun, easy 4 week Mystery. I am playing a little catch up- as the first clue was giving when we were on our road trip. It is a Snowflake Strip quilt out of  2.5" Strips of your choice, and a background fabric. I am using a fat quarter pack that I purchased awhile back. It is greens and browns. Below are my first four blocks.

Next up week 2, which I will get done before the release of week 3 on Friday.
Happy Sewing!
