Road to California Quilts!

This year the quilts were all together in one hall. It made viewing them very enjoyable and the lighting let you see the detail. Here are some of my favorite Quilts from the show. The first one is the Grand Prize winner by Marilyn Badger and was stunning.

Below are more of my favorites. Loved all of these Medallion style quilts.

Sandi and I both loved the Family Tree below, it had many fun sayings stitched in.

Beautiful Minatures.

It was a great show and we are looking forward to next year!

Road to California Quilt Sho.

Just back from Road to Calfornia Quilt Show. A fast trip, where I met up with Sandi, took two classes, saw all the beautiful quilts and of course shopped all the wonderful vendors.

Our first class was Wednesday night, a Mystery Class. No cutting required as we were provided these great laser cut kits.

A blue and white quilt. First rows completed below.

With Pat Yamin,4 rows complete.
Sandi, sewing away.

Finished quilt sample below. Still have a few more rows to go in mine. Love the graphic design. Will  be looking for a border fabric to finish it off.

The big reveal!

Next up a class with Analie Beldon-Jelly roll Dresden. This was a fun class- a lot of steps for each block, but not too complicated and Analie was a great teacher.

Analie and class samples.
Two Blocks done!

4 blocks done in Class.

Visiting vendors was up next and we hade a great time finding some items to start new projects and complete projects. Will be posting details soon, with all the adds to the stash.

Next post I will share some of the great quilts that were in the show, along with the Grand Prize winner.

Design Wall Monday

This week on the Design wall will be Tannenbaum and Frolic. Making progress with Tannenbaum, below with third block completed. Not sure how much sewing will actually happen this week, as I am meeting up with Sandi at Road to California Quilt show, where we are taking a couple of classes and of course taking in the show and shopping.

Also in the works in BH Frolic. The revel happened on Friday, and I have been busy cutting out pieces for the finish. One more unit to be completed in order to sew blocks together. I think this is one of my favorite of Bonnie's Mysteries. Love the colors and star blocks.

There is still time to get all the clues for this quilt, you can find them here.

Pieces cut for Clue 9
Hope to get some blocks completed before next week's Design wall.

Also cut out this week were the units needed for the Jelly Roll Dresden class that I will be takin later in the week. A lot of prepping going on, not as much sewing.

Check back to see how classes at Road are going and if I have made any progress.  Have a great week!

Design Wall Monday

This week I will be awating the next part of Bonnie Hunter's Frolic Mystery- hoping for the big reveal and I can put all of the units together. There sure are a lot of them and I am looking forward to seeing how Bonnie puts them all together in one of her fabulous quilts.

Also on the Design wall are the last two blocks of this installment of the Ella Deacon Quilt. I am still working on the bottom two blocks below. Next blocks will be available around January 15th.

Ella Maria Deacon Quilt Block of the Month

Lastly, I have started on Tannenbaum! First block is complete and working on next section. It starts from the top and each section is a seperate block. The background gets sewn on at the end. A little different process, but I sure like the finished result.

Design Wall Monday

More projects are added to my design wall this week! My #2 UFO Tannenbaum was picked for this month, so I have pulled out all the fabrics and will be cutting out blocks. I loved this project by Edyta Sitar of Laundry basket quilts, and I was able to purchase the fabrics during Memory Lane's going out of business sale. Fun to start the new year with a Christmas project.

Tannenbaum

Sandi and I will be off the Road to Ca quilt show later this month. We will be taking two classes, a Mystery Class, where we will be purchasing a kit, and Jelly Roll Dresden Class with Anelie Beldon. I was looking through my stash and came across the Jelly Roll and fabric below as a potential for the Dresden class. This has been waiting for the perfect project for some time, and I am hoping it will work.  There is prep work involved, so will add that to my list of things to do.

Jelly Roll Dresden

I know I will be busy in my Sewing room this week! Hope you are working on some fun projects this week. Happy Sewing!

Sunday Stash Report

My first stash report of the new year, and nothing used or added this week. I have been busy in my sewing room, working on a couple of projects. First up is finishing up the clue 6 for Frolic Mystery. Flying geese need one more side sewn on to complete this clue.

Clue 6

Next up is clue 7- Strips are cut out and I will be cutting more triangles for half-square triangles and pinwheel blocks. This is a little easier clue and I should be all caught up by next clue release this week.

Clue 7
Also in the works are the last 3 blocks to catch up on Ella Marie Deacon Quilt. Below are the completed blocks so far. I am not a big fan of Broderie perse applique, so I am thinking of replacing those blocks with additional pieced blocks.

As if this is not enough to be working on, tomorrow I will share a couple of other projects that will be started this month.

All zero's to start the new year!
