May UFO Finish

My UFO finish for May is Bulls Eye. I actually finished this one in March. I won the blocks from Sunshine Quilt Guilds monthly block drawing a couple of years ago. Each month you purchase a "kit" for a specific block, turn it in at the next meeting and you are entered to win all the blocks.

Bullseye
When I first won these blocks, I was not particularly fond of them. But after cutting them up in quarters, mix up the quarters and re-sewing them together, I really like it. It is now in the quilting que, with many of my other quilts, waiting to be quilted in between my clients. Seems there is never enough time to quilt my own quilts!

Here is my finish for October- Ruby Slippers. It will be added to the quilting que, along with all the other UFO's from this year. Just can't seem to get my own stuff quilted. Looks like that will be my UFO project for 2012!

Now on to November's UFO #3. This one is my Happy Birthday Quilt- a pattern by Lyn Mann. It is a two color quilt that I have been looking forward to working on. Check out her other patterns at www.quiltsbylyn.com.

2011 UFO Challenge April 1, 2011

The Monster Quilt is finished!!  It is so nice to have this one done and I really love it.

There is a cute poem that I will either stitch or paint around the white border after it is quilted. It goes like this:

"There are big scary Monsters under the bed
And every night they must be fed.
They love to eat fabric; it's their favorite food~
It puts them in the very best mood.
So the lesson is clear"  consider your plight~
Keep buying more fabric... or be dinner tonight!

Bring on the next UFO! and don't forget to check out all the other finished UFO's at Patchwork Times.

After much sewing of all those little pieces-972 to be exact- the pumpkin is done. Still looks a little elongated, but I like the way it turned out. It is on the Longarm as I speak, and will be quilted with a pumpkin/leaf pattern.

I am now caught up on the UFO Challenge as this one was from January! Looking forward to seeing what number is pulled for March.

Next up: finish Roll Roll Cotton Boll.

Have a great weekend all!

Stash Report February 13, 2011

Well here it is Sunday and the start of another week! It was another beautiful weekend in San Diego where we celebrated 100 years of Naval Aviation with a spectacular air show at North Island Naval Air Station. I think half of the City showed up for the festivities! Below are the famous Blue Angles.

On a much needed vacation this past week, I was able to spend some time finishing one of my UFO's and reducing my stash!  Below is a picture of the finished quilt top. It will now be added to the quilting que.

2011 UFO Challenge Feburary 2, 2011

One of the main reasons for starting this blog is to join the UFO Challenge with Judy over at Patchwork Times. I will be adding my name after I create my list. I am starting about a month late, so will have to finish two projects in February to catch up. Each month Judy picks a number and that is what you work on for the month. January was #6 and February is #10. So lets get started on the UFO list!

#1 Monster Quilt, a block of the month, but can't remember how long ago I started. All the blocks are finished, just need to stitch around the appliqued and put the blocks together.

#2 Feathered Star. Started in workshop with Jodi Barrows at Road to California Quilt Show about 3 years ago. Have four of the blocks done. Need to make 8 more.

#3 Happy Birthday. A Lynn Mann pattern to celebrate that milestone birthday that will happen this year.

#4 Wine Country. A Cozy Quilt Pattern that uses 2 1/2" strips.

#5 Ruby Slippers. The fabric is from a trip to Houston International Quilt Show in 2006. It is time to use up these fabrics!

#6 Pumpkin. This was a more recent purchase from the San Diego Quilt Show in September 2010, and as you can see already in progress on my design wall.

#7 Blue Trees. Started in fall of 2009. This one is all cut out and ready to go.

#8 Dove in the Window from Sew Batik. I love this quilt! Sandi made it in Red and it is awesome.

#9 Sugar Plum Stars- Tonga Batiks-need I say more! Purchased at the Independence Hall Quilt Show in Murphy's California in Oct of 2010.

#10 Heritage Trail. A patten by Pat Speth in her Amazing Nickel Quilts book. Started in January of 2010.

#11 Scrap Happy. I love scrap quilts and have been cutting pieces for this one for the last couple of years. It is time to get this one done!

#12 Lillibets Garden- This is a Beth Ferrier Block of the Month from 2006. The top is all put together, just need to finish all the applique.

My friend Sandi (kwiltnkats) has also encouraged me to get started with this blog and has been a great help in getting this up and running! Thanks Sandi!!

Looking forward to sharing my progress each week!
