Desigh Wall Monday, December 30, 2013.

This week I am working away on catching up with Bonnie Hunter's mystery, Celtic Solstice. If you have not played along with Bonnie on one of her mystery quilts, try it out. It starts the week of Thanksgiving and goes through the end of the year, with a new clue posted every Friday.

This year, has been a little tough for me to keep up, so I have many of the clues partially done. Below are parts of the different clues. I have also chosen different colors than Bonnie's. I am using Red-Gold-Purple-Green, instead of Orange-Yellow-Blue Green. I am also trying to use all fabrics from my stash, though I did need to purchase a bit more of the green and purple.

Clue 1 Finished!
Clue 2 Almost done!
Clue 3 Finished
Clue 4 These strips will be 120 4 patches.
Clue 5 was released last Friday and will use the half square triangles from clue 3 with the purple and neutral. Will try to catch up this week in time for this Friday's clue. Wish me luck!

Sunday Stash Report December 29, 2013

Happy Holiday's to All!

I had not realized how long it has been since my last post. My full-time job has kept me very busy for the last 6 weeks, and has not left much time for blogging or sewing.  But now that things have calmed down a bit, I can get back to both.

This will be the last stash report for the year. I do have a finish to report, my Seven Sisters quilt, which was started last January in a class with Marti Michell. I have not had too much time to hit any quilt shops, but did go yesterday to purchase a few more greens and purples for Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt that I have been trying to catch a few minutes here and there to work on.

Sunday Stash Report November 10, 2013

It is really nice to report a finish this week. My Jamestown Landing is done!! This was started last year and was one of my UFO's for this year. Nice to have it finished.

I also completed the block below for Sunshine Guild on Tuesday Night. This is another Bonnie Hunter free pattern called "Dancing Nine Patches"

A couple of adds to report for last week also. Took a trip to Fat Quarter Quilt Shop located in Vista a little over a week ago. This is one of my favorite shops in San Diego and has a great selection of reproduction fabrics. A gift card from my friend Sandi at Kwiltnkats came in handy!! Thanks Sandi!

So here are the updated numbers. Not as good as I had hoped for the year, but I still have December!

Design Wall Monday October 21, 2013

This week I am back to working on the Jamestown Landing. Finally have all the string blocks done- there are 168 of them- and have started to put the rows together. Hope to complete this by the end of October.

I will also be working on two applique projects. One is from Temecula Quilt Company and is a block of the month. I am working on Block 5 this week.
+

The other appliqued project that I am working on is called A different Path and is in the October issue of American Patch Work and Quilting.  It is a drunkards path that I am appliqueing all the circle pieces. Thought it would be a great way to use up all my scraps and it is a great project to take anywhere. I have about 70 of the 256 blocks completed.

Sunday Stash Report October 8, 2013

Wow- It has been almost a month since my last post! Time is sure flying by.

DH and I just returned home from a vacation last week in Yellowstone- The scenery was amazing, but unfortunately we were affected by the government shutdown, and the closure of the park and had to cut our visit short. We took this opportunity to drive up to Bozeman Montana and Big Sky Country. Which leads me to my Stash Report for last week.

Bozeman is home to at least 5 quilt shops- I made it to three and yes, purchased a few things along the way.

The first shop we visited was called Reproduction Fabrics. Margo has an awesome shop that only carries, you guessed it, reproduction fabrics. She does most of her business online, so the shop is only open from 12-3. If you ever want to know anything about Reproductions, Margo is the one to ask-she is a wealth of information.  It is a must visit if you are in the area and yes, I did not go home empty handed. Below are a couple of pictures of Margo and the shop.

Our second stop was in Downtown Bozeman at Main Street Quilting Company. This shop was featured in the Spring/Summer issue of Quilt Sampler. This shop has something for everyone- great selection of novelty, modern, and western themed fabrics.

Our last stop for the day, (yes, I got DH to visit three quilt shops in one day!) was called the Silver Thimble.  It did not look like much from the outside, but inside the first thing that caught my eye was the Judy Niemeyer quilt called Golden Harvest below, and yes I did buy the pattern! I also purchased the Twister Jack pattern below and fabrics to go with.

So, unfortunately the numbers are not going in the right direction, but boy did I have fun!

No finishes this week, but do have to report an addition to the Stash. Purchased the fat quarters below at the SD Quilt show this past week. These will be used in a couple of projects that I am working on: my Red/White/Blue Dear Jane and the survivor quilt that was started this past Thursday in a class taken with Joyce Weeks.

Here are my blocks from the Survivor Class.

This week is San Diego Quilt Show Week! If you are in the area it is a must see and is held at the Convention Center in Downtown San Diego. You can check out a couple of my quilts below that will be in the show!

Birthday Jane

This week I will be starting UFO #6: Jamestown Landing, another Bonnie Hunter pattern. I have all the blue blocks completed, just need to finish about 60 of the string pieced neutral blocks and then put it all together. This also has one of my favorite border treatments- a piano key border.

As posted previously, I will also be starting the Survivor Quilt by Joanne Weeks in my class on Thursday. Below are the fabrics I will be using.

See what everyone else is working on at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report September 1, 2013

This post finally finds me with a finish and a small addition to the Stash!  First off the finish is my Jeweled Trees Quilt. This was a pattern form the December 2009 McCall's Quilting Magazine. It is all paper pieced, really a pretty simply paper pieced design. The hardest part was picking out all the fabrics from my stash. Really love how this turned out- will be adding to the quilting que!

The only addition is 20-10" squares from Keepsake Quilting. These are to be used later this week in a class at the San Diego Quilt Show. It is called Survivor and is a scrappy quilt with 9 patches and stars.

I will be using a cheddar for the pink and the blues will be all the scrappy pieces. Shirting's will be the light background.  Should be a fun class.

So here are the updated numbers:

Used this week: 5 yards.
Used Year to date: 112.25.
Purchased this week: 2 yards.
Purchased Year to date: 25.5
Net Fabric Used in 2013: 87.75

Design Wall Monday July 29, 2013

This week I am back to working on the Jeweled Forest. This is a pattern in  McCalls Quilting Magazine from December 2009. It is entirely paper pieced and is going together pretty quickly. I have just a couple of sections completed so far. It is a small quilt, only 22x37, which is nice after the last couple of big quilts that I have finished.

What is on your Design Wall this week?  Check out all the other projects at Patchwork Times.

Have a great week and hope you get in lots of sewing time!

This week I have a couple of finishes to report. First off my July UFO, Liberty Table runner and next my Medallion Quilt. It is nice to get a couple of things completed. These will be added to the quilting que, hopefully to be quilted soon!

Birthday Jane in Vermont

I was lucky enough to have my Birthday Jane Quilt in the Vermont Quilt Show at the end of June. It was in a Special Exhibit celebrating 150 years of the Jane Stickle Quilt. This exhibit was curated by Brenda Papadakis who first drafted all those little blocks.

Here are some pictures of my quilt and Brenda during the presentation that she gave. Unfortunately I was unable to attend- Vermont is a long way from San Diego!!! I would love to have heard Brenda's presentation and what she was saying about my quilt!

Thanks to Deborah Bingham for taking the pictures and sharing with me!  If you want to see more of the exhibit, check out photos at The VQF Dear Jane Special Exhibit.

Design Wall Monday July 8, 2013.

This week finds me up in the beautiful Sierra Mountains in Mammoth Lakes. Here to see the Jazz Festival and celebrate our one year anniversary.  As always, I bring along the Janome for a little sewing time.

Convict Lake

This week I will be working on my July UFO-Liberty table runner. I have cut out all the pieces for the stars and will start putting together this afternoon.

I am also working on a couple of applique blocks. Have them all prepped and just need to sew the pieces down. These are the first two blocks from a block of the month by Temecula Quilt Company in Temecula. It is a great little shop offering reproduction fabrics and patterns. If you are ever in the area it is a must see.

Design Wall Monday July 1, 2013

July is here and will hopefully bring a few finishes! This week I am hoping to finish my Bonnie  Hunter Easy Street. All I have left to do is add the purple inner border and the turquoise outer border. I am using leftovers for that and making a piano key border. This was a fun quilt and I love the color combination.

Sunday Stash Report June 30, 2013

Hard to believe it is the last day of June and we are half way through the year. Christmas will be upon us soon- time to get working on all those holiday projects!

I have not posted for the last month as I have had no finishes to report. Have been to busy with weddings, births and just life in general to get much sewing, or shopping in. But after a great quilt retreat last weekend, with some of the best women I know, I was able to get a quilt finished and two more almost there!

This quilt is for my new Granddaughter, Violet Grace. She was born on June 20th and is the most beautiful baby in the world. (Of course I am not prejudiced!) It still has to be quilted and bound, and will also be in the San Diego Quilt Show in September.

So here are the latest numbers.  Check out all the other stash reports at Patchwork Times.

Used this week: 10  yards.
Used YTD: 50.25 yards.
Purchased this week: 0 yards.

Design Wall Monday May 20,2013

Spending some time up in Angels Camp this week with my Mom. It is always good to get away and visit with family. I always take my Janome with me when I travel- there is always some time to work on a project or two.

So this week I brought the paper pieced forest animals for my new granddaughter's quilt. I was able to get four of them completed last night. Just have to draw in a few of the details. There are 8 more to go. I am also working on the lay out in EQ7 and have settled on a couple of design choices. Hope to have all the blocks finished this week and start putting it all together when I get home.

Hope this finds all of you working on something fun this week.  Check out all the other great projects at Patchwork Times.
