Still no finishes, but making progress. Unity now has the 4th row almost complete. Friendship star blocks are done and wating to be sewn on. Next clue tomorrow!

Also cut out and ready to assemble, are the spool blocks for Variegated Threads.

When finished, this will have a place in my sewing room. An empty wall is waiting.
Adds this week include a backing and binding for On Ringo Lake- another Bonnie Hunter Mystery finished in 2018. This will get quilted later this week.

Tree Farm, below was a birthday gift from Sandi. Another one of my favorites from Laundry Basket Quilts. Looking forward to putting this together, even with all the half square triangles.

Design Wall

I did not get very far last week with the Variegated Threads Quilt, so will be working on that this week. Along with that will be the next installment of Bonnie Hunter's Mystery, Unity. The third round is complete!

Unity- 3 rounds done.
This round was a bit involved with all the little star blocks. It was tough to get them to all fit around, but I did it, and with only a little bit of wonkyness. Should be easy to quilt it out! 😅 Looking forward to round 4. I may stop there as I do not want this too big. Have a particular spot in my house that I want this to hang for the summertime.

Have a great week and hope to make more progress this week!

Design Wall Monday

Happy Monday!

This week on my Desgn Wall will be the third round of Bonnie Hunter's Unity Mystery

Unity- two rounds complete

This next round is 36 sawtooth star blocks- lots of cutting! I will also be starting on the next UFO called Variegated Threads by Laundry Basket Quilts. This is a kit I purchased last year so should be easy to get started.

This should keep me busy this week along with a couple of custom quilts to be quilted on the longarm. Hope you are finishing many of your UFO's.

Sunday Stash Report

Hope you are all well and enjoying your Easter at home.

This week I was able to finish two UFO's Checkboard and Scrappy Log Cabin. Checkerboard top is done and ready for quilting. No borders for this one. Binding will be the dark grey that is in the quilt top.

Scrappy Log cabin was a project started in a workshop at Road to California in 2012. I completed a few more blocks and decided that it was only going to be a table runner.

Making some progress on using up the stash!

Hiking Tom's Thumb

Tom's Thumb
DH and I decided that it was time to get out for a hike and enjoy some of the desert wildflowers. You can only see so much walking around our neighborhood. We headed over to the trail for Tom's Thumb, which is about a 15 minute drive from home. This is a hike we have been wanting to do for sometime and today was the perfect day, not too hot, with a little breeze. The trail was not crowded, and everyone practicing social distancing.

The trail is about 5 miles round trip, with the first two miles going up. There were many colorful wildflowers in bloom along the trail, pictures below. I am hoping I got most of the names right!😀

Desert Lupine

Globe Mallow

Desert Lupine

Brittlebrush

Indian paintbrush

Mexican Poppies
The Cactus are just starting to bloom and many more will have flowers in a few more weeks.

Strawberry Hedgehog Cactus
We finally made it to the top! A fun hike with some beautiful views at the top.

The "Thumb" up close.

Even with our "Stay at home order" I hope you are still getting out and enjoying the beautiful spring!

Design Wall Monday

On the Design Wall this week will be Checkerboard. Blocks are finished and just need to start sewing together.  I will be adding about 18 more blocks to make this a bit bigger. The dark fabric will also be used as binding. No borders for this quilt.

Checkerboard Blockts

This has been super easy to chain piece and put together. I am thinking of another one, but using white instead of the dark grey. The Bunny block below was completed yesterday and is the first of four blocks for the HH applique group.

Bunny Block

I have three more prepped and ready to go for this months blocks. Will be working on those along with binding this week while TV watching. Along with this, as many of you are doing, I will be making some masks for family and friends. Lucky me! I found some elastic that was put aside for another project, that I will be putting to good use for the masks.

Enjoy your week and keep on sewing!

Sunday Stash Report

Hope this finds everyone staying healthy!

Nothing finished this last week and nothing added to the stash. Have a few adds coming from some internet shopping and hope to have a finish by the end of the week. I did get the center block complete for Bonnie Hunter's new weekly Mystery called Unity. I chose to use one or two grey's instead of aqua, and I am keeping my neutrals to the white/natural tone, but still scrappy. Next clue will be revealed tomorrow.

I have also been working on quilting some of my own quilts this past week. Below is a quilt called Confetti, that was finished in 2009, only 11 years ago. It is now finally getting quilted.

Quilting pattern is Jungle Daisy by Anne Bright.

No changes for this week, but hope to finish Checkerboard and use up more of the stash!
