Design Wall Mondy

I am taking a short break from Dear Jane, to work on Marigold's quilt. It is called Modern Farmhouse and was in th February 2018 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting. It is a simple pattern of half square triangles and squares. I made the blocks a bit smaller to finish at 8" instead of 12". Nine blocks are complete with 6 more cut out and ready to sew this week.

Check back later this week to check on my progress! Have a great week!

Design Wall Monday

On Ringo Lake is ready to sew into rows. All laid out on the floor, way to big for my design wall! This is another of Bonnie's quilts where you need to be careful of  laying out all the pieces correctly and to also make sure they do not get turned during sewing.

ORL ready to sew the rows together!
I am really happy with this mystery and the way it is all coming together.  On Ringo Lake Mystery is now retired, but you can purchase the pattern on Bonnie's Blog.  Check back soon to see my progress and the completed quilt!

Road 2 CA Classes

Sandi and I attended two classes during our time at R2CA quilt show. The first was by Janna Thomas of Bloc Loc rulers, called Magic Mariners Star Compass. There were many different blocks that could be made form the two sets of rulers for the class, and we learned a lot of new techniques from Janna. We always love taking classes from Janna, and her husband Paul is quite the comedian!
Class Samples
My Blocks completed in class,
Sewing away!

Our second class was Antique Rose Star with Barbara Black. This was Barbara's first time teaching at Road and she did a great job. Sandi and I chose to make our blocks smaller than the class sample and used a 2' kite template from Marti Michell

Class Sample

I had time to complete one block and have another ready to sew together. I really enjoyed this technique which took a complicated block with y-seams, and made it super simple and fast. If you ever have a chance to take a class with Barbara, I highly recommend it.

Check back tomorrow for pictures of some of the beautiful quilts from the show!

Design Wall Monday

Greetings from Mammoth Lakes, where DH and I are on our annual January ski trip. This is where I get to work on one of my projects, after we spend a few hours on the slopes.

This week I am working on Bonnie Hunter's, On Ringo Lake Mystery. I did not have much time during December to keep up with all the clues, so I will be working it this week to hopefully catch up and get this quilt completed. I was able to get clue 1 complete, and had all of 2 an 3 cut out below and ready to sew.

All lined up and ready to sew!

A big pile of sewn pieces

Lots of pressing going on today and cutting for clue #4. Next up, sewing the brown and aqua triangle units.

Brown and Aqua pieces
Next up will be more flying geese! Below is also is the block completed for Sunshine Quilt Guild January Meeting. I did not end up making it to the meeting, so it will go to the lucky winner in February.

All for now, check back tomorrow to see what I started in my classes at Road 2 California Quilt show last week!
