Sunday Stash Report

Just in time for the last Stash Report of 2018. My feathered star quilt is finished! I am very happy at how it turned out. Not sure if I will do another quilt using Jodi Barrows Square in a Square technique, there is quite a bit of waste with all the cutting involved, and you have to be very careful how you are cutting- ask me how I know. Several of the center blocks had to be made twice because of my cutting errors!

Feathered Star
A trip to Memory Lane on Saturday, resulted in the purchases below. More corals and blues for the Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt. Sandi also brought me a few more to use. Hopefully we will have a enough to complete this quilt. The last few clues are coming fast and I have a lot of catch up to do!

Also purchased were the neutral below and a great Martini fabric that I will be using for a backing.

Here are the final numbers for 2017. Almost 75 yards used, but too much added. I think my goal for 2018 will be to use up 100 yards and to keep the purchases to a minimum!

Used this week: 15 yards.
Used YTD:  196.5 yards.
Purchased this week: 6 yards.
Purchased YTD: 123.0 yards.
Net Fabric Used YTD: 73.5 yards.

Happy New Year! Here's to a happy and healthy 2018! Keep on Stitching!

Stash Report

No finishes yet. Still working on the feathered star, but making progress.

A trip to Rosie's with Sandi, yielded the fabrics below for On Ringo Lake, Bonnie Hunter's Mystery quilt. The first clue is in progress- nine patches, and second clue will await the new ruler that Sandi picked up for me. Looking forward to using it, as it looks like it will save a step in putting together the flying geese units that are up next.

A finish of sorts this week, the blocks for our guild's mystery quilt were completed. I will be awaiting the next clue at our January meeting.

Nothing used this week, but hope to make a dent soon.

Design Wall Monday

Happy Thanksgiving Week!

On my design wall this week are the Feathered Star project along with the Sunshine Mystery. Why just work on one quilt when you can work on two.  The feathered star is my UFO for November, so trying to get it finished up. After that only one more UFO to go for the year.

Also starting soon is Bonnie Hunter's annual mystery quilt. The first clue will be published the day after Thanksgiving. If you have not participated in one of her mysteries, I highly recommend it. I have never been disappointed with any of her designs, and her color choices are great. Check it out on her blog. It is called " On Ringo Lake"  Below are fabrics that I have pulled from my stash. Will need a few more of the melon tones. The browns are a little darker than the photo, and I had a lot of those. May need a few more of the turquoise colors.

Looking forward to the first clue, but I have plenty to keep me busy this week! Have a great week!

Sunday Stash Report

November is flying by and Thanksgiving and the Holidays are here!!
I work a full time job in retail, so this time of year leaves me limited time for sewing. Nothing finished this week but continuing progress on my feathered star. I was going to stop at 6 blocks, each one finishes at 24 inches, but decided to make it square. So I have 3 more cut out and ready to sew and will be working on them this week.

I am also working on our Guild's Mystery Quilt. I have the first clue finished. Mine will be in reds/neutral with a Christmas theme.

A finish this week! A quick easy quilt for one of my great nephews. Hope to have this one quilted and mailed off soon, along with the Baby Seuss quilt for his new little sister.  This was a fun quilt to put together and is called Takeoff, pattern by Renae Lindgren. Of course it screams for an airplane quilting pattern.

Working on the feathered star blocks today. Maybe I will have one to show tomorrow on my Design Wall. Just a little change in the usage this week. The year is winding down and I have two more finishes in the works.

Design Wall

This week on my Design Wall is Megan's Feathered Star by Jodi Barrows, and will be my November UFO. This was started a few years ago in a workshop with Jodi at Road to California.  I have 3 more blocks cut out and ready to sew and then will decide if I want to add more.

All of the block centers have different patterns. These three blocks are green centers with red feathers. The next three are red blocks with green feathers. Yes, this will definitely have a Christmas feel when it is complete. Check back to see if I am able to make any progress!

UFO Finish

Even though I am still working on Chic Kisses, I do have a finish for September. This cute, and easy Dr Seuss Baby quilt. Made out of a panel of blocks and some fat quarters, I finished it off using all the leftovers for the border. I think it turned out very cute, and will go to my new niece once it is quilted and bound.

Check out more finishes at Patchwork Times.

Now it is on to October, with two projects to finish!

Design Wall Monday

Chic Kisses remains on the Design Wall this week. Still sewing all those curves. I am making mine 9 blocks instead of the 16 that are in the pattern. Each block finishes at 24 inches.

Chic Kisses 16 block.

Next up will be my Feathered Star. This is my October UFO. Only have a couple of more blocks to make, everything is already cut.

I have a busy month ahead of me!

Design Wall

This week on my design wall are a baby quilt that just need the borders finished up. This quilt was made from a fat quarter pack of girly Dr Seuss fabrics that I bought awhile back. Just have to finish up the pieced border from all the scraps that are left. This will be for a new niece that was born about a week ago.

Dr Seuss Baby
Also on my design wall is Chic Kisses. Wedges are done and will sew on melons and outside circles next. Had to find more of the dark grey for the corner squares, and was lucky enough to find on line at Quilting Cupboard.

Chic Kisses
This is my September UFO and not sure if it will be complete by Saturday, but I am going to try.

The San Diego Quilt Show opened today, so if you have a chance head on over. It runs through Saturday. I will be in Sunshine Quilt Guild Booth on Saturday, sewing away with other members on Project Linus Quilts and hoping to win some $$$ for the guild. If you are there stop by.

Design Wall

No Stash Report this week, as there was nothing new to report. I am looking forward to changing the numbers soon.

Three projects are on my Design Wall this month. Chic Kisses, Dr Seuss Baby Quilt and of course still working on those Dear Jane Blocks. Below is the baby quilt on my design wall. A simple quilt that will go together quickly as soon as I can find a few uninterrupted hours of sewing!

Baby Dr Seuss

Fabric was bought a couple of years ago as a fat quarter pack, waiting for a new baby. My nephew and his wife will be having a little girl any day now, so will be working to get finished and off to them soon.

Design Wall Monday

Happy Labor Day!

Labor day to me always marks the end of summer (even though it is 80 degrees outside) and the beginning of fall, and holiday seas,on that is just around the corner.

On my design wall this week are more finished blocks from Dear Jane and my September UFO Chic Kisses.

Four more blocks.

Below is my Dear Jane "chart" showing progress. I have about 12 more triangles and about 47 more blocks to go in the center. This chart is available with the DJ software, that will also help you print out all the foundation papers for paper piecing many of the blocks, and the applique templates. It also has a great feature, Block Tips, that I use all the time.

Block Chart

Hope to make some progress this week on both projects!

UFO Finishes for August,

I did not have a July finish, but was able to catch up in August with two finishes.

Lazy Sunday
Lazy Sunday is a Bonnie Hunter pattern from her book, More Adventures with Leaders and Enders. Lots of pieces but the results are outstanding!

Maltese Circles

Maltese Circles is a block of the month that I won from Sunshine Quilt Guild. I used all but two of the blocks for this Quilt. The original pattern was by Judy Martin.

Next up for September will be a pattern from Sew Kind of Wonderful, called Chic Kisses. It was started in a workshop in January of 2016 at Road to California Quilt Show. I have one block almost completed an a couple of others cut out and ready to go. I am using Kaffe fabrics for the print side of the blocks and solids for the other. I will have spend some time getting back into this one and how to use the ruler that goes with it.

Chic kisses

My Block.

Check out more finished projects at Patchwork Times.

Design Wall Monday

Happy Monday!
We are having a heat wave here in San Diego. Temperatures will be close to 100 in my area of town. Thoughts and prayers go out to all in Texas dealing with the rain and flooding.

This week I will be working on more of my Dear Jane blocks. I am working on the paper pieced blocks, some with applique, and have them lined up and ready to go.

Paper piecing ready to go!

Below are the finishes from yesterday.

I hope to have my Dear Jane Quilt finished, (or at least the top finished) by the time the next DJ Cowgirl Round Up rolls around in late June of 2018.

Later this week I will be starting on one of the three UFO's I have left to complete this year. In between I have two baby quilts to make. Busy week ahead for me!
