Stash Report

Happy Solar Eclipse Day! Hope you will be able to watch this phenomenon. I will be working, but hope to head out to get a glimpse. Don't forget your eye protection!

A big finish this week, with Lazy Sunday. This is a pattern from Bonnie Hunter in her book, More Adventures with Leaders and Enders. I will not lie, this was a lot of work and a lot of pieces, but the results are stunning!

Happy Hump Day!
This week on my Design Wall I have two quilts that are almost finished!. Lazy Sunday only needs two borders sewn on and then a finish. This will be my project tonight after work today.

Lazy Sunday
Next up this week is Maltese Circles. This is my UFO for August. The blocks were won from Sunshine Quilt Guild block of the month awhile back. All it needs is sashing and a couple of small borders. Hope to have it finished up by the end of the week.

Maltese Circles

Have a great rest of the week and check back to see my progress on Sunday. Hope to have a positive update on the Stash Report.

Greetings from Arnold CA, Home of the Big Trees.

It has been a busy couple of weeks, since my last post. This week I am in the beautiful Sierra Mountains in a little town called Arnold. Not far up the road from Arnold is Big Trees Park, home to some of the largest Redwood trees in the state. It is also home to one of my favorite places to Beaver Creek.

Beaver Creek

I am also getting in a little sewing this week, working on Lazy Sunday.

Sunday Stash Report

Back home today from Mammoth Lakes. Great weather and even more beautiful scenery with all the water everywhere. Mammoth had a record snowfall this year, so there is still quite a bit of snow hanging around, and all the lakes are full. Below are a couple of the lakes that we visited.

Virginia Lake in background.

Arrowhead Lake.

Nothing added for the stash this week and nothing used. Tomorrow I will give an update on my Lazy Sunday. I did finish another Lucy Boston block on the drive, along with a few more DJ blocks below.

Cabin 34
This week DH and I are celebrating out 5th Anniversary up in Mammoth Lakes. We are staying in a cute cabin at Tamarack Lodge on Twin Lakes. It is a beautiful setting. There is still quite a bit of snow up here especially above 9000 ft, which makes many of our favorite hiking trails out of reach.

Crystal Crag
Crystal Craig is one of our favorite hikes, but still too much snow, so cannot hike very far on the trail. We did hike out to Parker Lake- which is always a spectacular place to go. It is a glacier fed lake and very blue.

Parker lake
Not too much accomplished on the sewing front. One DJ block completed and some sewing for the first block for Lazy Sunday. I have set up a cozy sewing station in our cabin, but it has been much too beautiful here to spend much time inside!

Check back later this week to see if I have made any progress.😊

Design Wall

This week involved a lot of cutting for Lazy Sunday, a Bonnie Hunter pattern, that was originally a Mystery Quilt from Quiltmaker magazine in 2013. I will be taking this project along on vacation next week to Mammoth Lakes. DH and I are celebrating our 5th Anniversary and I hope to get in some hiking, sewing, and Skiing in July!

This quilt will definitely keep me busy for July! Hope you are making progress on your UFO's this summer.

Sunday Stash Report

As mentioned in a earlier post, Brenda brought a sizable amount of her stash to sell to us during our Dear Jane Retreat. Not only was she giving it away at bargin prices, but the choices were outstanding. Below are Brenda's Dear Jane Fabrics. These were discontinued a couple of years ago and hard to find.
Dear Jane Fabrics

The fabrics below will be used for backings. The one to far left will be for my current Dear Jane Quilt.
\Backings

Next up, just because. I really liked the one with all the words, a great neutral.
Just because.

Lastly, another line of fabrics designed by Brenda for her Susanna Culp quilt Pattern. Not sure yet what I will use them for or even if I will make the Susanna Culp quilt, but I really liked the purple and gold.

Also added were two solid neutrals, a white and a cream. The cream will most likely be used for my Lucy Boston Quilt. The damage this week was, yes, 50 yards. But all at a deal that I could not pass up. I am still in the black, but time to get busy with a few more finishes!!

Used this week: 0 yards.
Used YTD:  127 yards.
Purchased this week: 50 yards.
Purchased YTD: 96 yards.
Net Fabric Used YTD: 31 yards.

June UFO

June UFO complete! This was another win of blocks from Sunshine Quilters awhile back. The pattern is called Rotation. I had to make an additional 7 blocks to finish out the quilt. Next up to find a backing and add to the quilting que.

Rotation

For July I will be working on UFO # 12, Lazy Sunday, along with getting a few more of my Dear Jane Blocks completed!

Back home.

It has been a whirlwind since getting back home from Texas on Monday, and back to work on Tuesday. I finally have a minute to post. The Round up was fun, productive and the food was outstanding! It was great to see Janiacs from our previous Round up, and to meet new ones. Everyone was working on their version of Dear Jane, with a few working on other Brenda projects. Below are the blocks that I finished, with some needing just a bit of hand sewing for the applique.

24 finished blocks.
Brenda and I.

My Tablemates and I, all decided that we would finish our Dear Jane's this year, share at the next Round up, and start on Dear Hannah next year at Round up. Pat volunteered to email us every month to remind us to get Jane done! For me that means finishing up 15 more Triangles and 58 more blocks. I will need to spend some time each month to get them done. So watch fro my Dear Jane posts and see if I am making progress.

My Tablemates, me, Pat, Lisa and Joanne

Brenda also shared her stash with us- which is pretty extensive. She brought many bolts of fabric, books, pattens and kits for us to purchase at very discounted prices. Check back for my stash report on Sunday to see the damage!

Happy Sewing!

At the Round up!

Yes, it is that time of year again. I am in Texas for the 3rd Annual Dear Jane Round up, hosted by Brenda Papadakis. Once again we are at Newt's Tennis Ranch for a great time of sewing, food and a little shopping. There are 22 of us this year, many from past retreats and some newbies. Maureen came all the way from Melborne, Australia, and Joanne came all the way from Whitehorse, Yukon.

Newt's Ranch

Brenda

We have a nice bright room, with lots of table space to spread out. I am at the back table, Joanne is at the right table. Lisa and Pat, pictured, are from Texas. We all sat together last year.

Below are my blocks for the first two days. Check back later to see progress.

Blocks

All the ladies are very creative and bring lots of fun goodies for everyone.

One of my favorites is the saddle from Brenda!

Today is day three, and we are off to the Quilthaus after lunch, for a trunk show from Westminster Fabrics, and a little shopping. I am off to get a few more blocks complete before lunch!

Sunday Stash Report

Hope you are enjoying your Father's Day with that special Dad in your life.

Lot's to report this week with two finishes. Union Blues is complete! This quilt finished at 85x102. Yes, it was too big to even take a good picture of. This is one of my UFO's for the year, so I am really glad this one is finished!

Union Blues
Also completed this week was my June UFO, Rotation. More on this quilt in a future post. With this one I can only take credit for backing/binding usage, as the blocks were all won from Sunshine Quilt Guild and not from my stash.

Purchase this week included the fabrics below, from our June auction at Sunshine Quilt Guild. Just an assortment of fabrics to add to my stash and support the guild!

Used this week: 31 yards.
Used YTD:  127 yards.
Purchased this week: 10 yards.
Purchased YTD: 46 yards.
Net Fabric Used YTD: 81 yards.

Getting closer to 100 yards used this year! Hope you are also having some success.

Design Wall

This week has flown by, already Thursday and I am just getting around to posting my Design Wall. So the rest of this week I am working on Rotation. These were blocks that were won from Sunshine Quilt Guild's Block of the month awhile back. I had to fix a couple of blocks that were oriented wrong, and make 7 more blocks to finish up the quilt. Now it is just sewing together and putting a border on. Once this is done, my June UFO will be complete!

Roatation

I have a big finish this week that I will be posting on Sunday, so check back for my updated Stash Report.

Stash Report

Nothing new in the stash report this week. No adds and no finishes. I did make a block for Sunshine Quilt Guild Block of the Month. This month was a 30"s theme.

I have a couple of finishes on the horizon, so check back to see finishes later this week.
Have a great week

Design Wall Monday

As I mentioned in my previous post, I will be busy at work this week trying to get Union Blues off the living room floor. It is way to big for my design wall at 86x101, so on the floor it sits. It is sewn together diagonally into rows and then the rows sewn together. Lastly will be the borders. I am sure this one will take me awhile, there are a lot of pieces to go together!

It was also hard to photograph on the floor, but hopefully you get the idea! Check back later this week to see if I have made any progress.

Sunday Stash Report

This week a finish! And no adds, at least for now. Below is Red Vines, finished and ready for the quilting que. I even have the binding cut out, and have cut all the 10.5 inch squares for the backing out of all my leftover reds and blacks. Will find some time this week to sew the back together.

Red vines
Nice to have a finish and use up some of that stash!  Next up will be putting together Union Blues and then my UFO for June. A lot to keep me busy this month!

Used this week: 12 yards.
Used YTD:  96 yards.

May UFO Finish

My UFO finish for May is Bulls Eye. I actually finished this one in March. I won the blocks from Sunshine Quilt Guilds monthly block drawing a couple of years ago. Each month you purchase a "kit" for a specific block, turn it in at the next meeting and you are entered to win all the blocks.

Bullseye
When I first won these blocks, I was not particularly fond of them. But after cutting them up in quarters, mix up the quarters and re-sewing them together, I really like it. It is now in the quilting que, with many of my other quilts, waiting to be quilted in between my clients. Seems there is never enough time to quilt my own quilts!

See more great finishes at Patchwork Times.
