Design Wall Monday

Last week was spent cutting and prepping all the pieces for Prairie Star. I have done a couple of Judy Neimeyer quilts in the past, but nothing this complicated.

Bagged and ready to start.

All of the paper piecing units are cut apart and seperated into six different bags. There are also plastic cutting templates to prepare and paper pieces for cutting. All of the fabrics are pre-cut and put with its unit in the proper bag. The cutting took awhile, as you have to make sure you are cutting the right unit for the right fabric. There are 14 different fabrics in this quilt.

Now that the cutting is complete, I am getting started on the first unit, which is actually bag #3. This quilt will definately take some time and will stretch my quilting skills. Check in and see my progress.

On the longarm this week will be the charity quilts that were completed earlier this month. I will be self-binding them to save a bit of time. They will be turned in at our September 14 Guild meeting.

Charity Quilt

I have a busy week ahead of me and will be attending Rusty Barn Quilt and Sewing show later this week. Have a shopping list and which will include some additions to my stash for future projects. So glad events are back! Happy Sewing!

Sunday Stash Report

No finishes this week. It was a week of cutting and prepping Prairie Star and working on some bindings. Two are ready for hand sewing down this week and I have 2 more to sew on binding.

Ready to sew binding down!

Added to the stash this week was a fabric from Hancocks of Paducah. They were the only ones that had this fabric and it is for Clover Fields. I had miss cut a couple of pieces and needed a more. Any leftover will either go into the neutral stash or be used on the back.

Not much change in the stash this week.

Used this week: 0 yards
Used YTD: 175.0 yards.
Purchased this week: 3 yards
Purchased YTD:  102.0 yards.

Design Wall Monday

Cloverfields is on hold for now, as I await an order for additional background. Unfortunately I miscut a few pieces and will need additional fabric to get started.

So this week I will be starting on one of my last UFO's, Prairie Star by Judy Niemeyer.

All paper pieced with fabrics purchased about 2 years ago. Time to get this one done. My goal is to make one Judy Niemeyer quilt a year. I have quite a few patterns that I have collected over the years.

I know I will be busy with this one. Enjoy your week!

This week's stash report features a couple of finishes and some additions. First up, the fourth charity quilt is done and has been added to the que.

I was also able to get my next Calendar quilt top finished and ready to machine applique. Four more to go and I hope to complete one each month and finish by the end of the year.

Calendar Quilt- November

A trip to 35th Avenue fabric store, yielded the four backings below for the charity quilts. I did not have anything big enough that I wanted to use for backings and I did not want to piece anything.

Design Wall Monday

This week I will be working on my next UFO, called Clover Fields. This was a kit that I purchased last year and should be a fun one to complete. I really loved the colors in this quilt and they are all batiks.

Clover Fields

I am also hoping to complete the last of the charity quilts that were started last week. Will also get started on the quilting and hope to use fabric from my stash for the backings.

Hope you are working on a fun project for the week! Enjoy

Sunday Stash Report

Last Tuesday was our Sew-in for Sunrise Stitchers, where we worked on charity projects. I had pre-cut a couple of kits and  I was able to get one finished that day.  All were super easy and fun patterns. The last one was cut with the Crazy Block die for my Accquilt.

The two below were finsihed during the week.

I will be quilting the charity quilts and hope to have them all finished by our September meeting.  Hocus Pocus, below, was finished in July, but somewhere along the way I forgot to post it.

Design Wall Monday

Tomorrow I will be going to our Sew-in with Sunrise Stitchers. It is from 9am to 9pm and we will be working on a few charity projects. I have kitted up a couple of baby quilt using some charm squares, and white fabrics from my stash.  I picked a couple of easy patterns and these will be my projects for the Sew-in and for the week.

This will be on point.

Sashing and Cornerstones.

I also used my new Accquilt to cut out these crazy quilt blocks using some leftover 10" squares from my stash. These blocks will finish at 6 inches. They are all labeled and ready to sew together. It took me 5 minutes to cut out 12 blocks. I am loving my Accquilt Go-Big Cutter!

Pieces cut and labeled for Crazy quilt blocks.

I have a busy week ahead of me! Enjoy your week!
