Hiking Tom's Thumb

Tom's Thumb
DH and I decided that it was time to get out for a hike and enjoy some of the desert wildflowers. You can only see so much walking around our neighborhood. We headed over to the trail for Tom's Thumb, which is about a 15 minute drive from home. This is a hike we have been wanting to do for sometime and today was the perfect day, not too hot, with a little breeze. The trail was not crowded, and everyone practicing social distancing.

The trail is about 5 miles round trip, with the first two miles going up. There were many colorful wildflowers in bloom along the trail, pictures below. I am hoping I got most of the names right!😀

Desert Lupine

Globe Mallow

Desert Lupine

Brittlebrush

Indian paintbrush

Mexican Poppies
The Cactus are just starting to bloom and many more will have flowers in a few more weeks.

Strawberry Hedgehog Cactus
We finally made it to the top! A fun hike with some beautiful views at the top.

The "Thumb" up close.

Even with our "Stay at home order" I hope you are still getting out and enjoying the beautiful spring!
