This week I am back to working on Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt from December, Orca Bay. I am finally making progress! My color choices were purple/green/gold and I used only fabrics from my stash.
All the string blocks done, the Ohio Stars complete and most of the other components ready to go. Just have to sew the triangle pieces to the purple strip triangles and then start sewing the rows together. This one has been fun-but a lot of small pieces. Below are all the pieces ready to go.
Have a great week and if you need inspiration, check out all the other design walls at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report February 19, 2012
This week I was able to complete the baby quilt for William. This was a very simple pattern and went together in a couple of hours. I ended up adding a couple of borders as the quilt was a bit smaller than I wanted. Purchased 2 yards for the two borders and binding. Now, just have to quilt it, bind it, and send it off. Hope to have that done by next weekend.
Used this week: 5.0 yards
Used YTD: 14.5 yards.
Purchased this week: 2 yards
Purchased YTD: 15 yards.

Design Wall Monday February 6, 2012
This week I will be working on a quilt for a new baby grandson that was born into our family in November.
The pattern is a called Looky-Lou, by Pressed For Time Quiltworks and is super simple. The backing is the yellow minkie- I really love using minkie for baby quilts.
What are you working on this week? For inspiration check out all the other design walls at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report February 5, 2012
This week I am happy to report some usage and no additions! I was also able to complete all the churn dash blocks for a block swap with 15 other quilters. These were fun blocks to make and very addicting. I made the 30 I needed for the sway and will be making another 31 to complete the quilt. This is another free pattern from Bonnie Hunter called Chunky Churn Dash.
So far, still in the negative- but making progress!

Design Wall Monday January 30, 2012
Happy Monday! Hard to believe that January is almost gone and February is right around the corner.
This week I have the Scrappy Layered Log Cabin blocks on the design wall. This is from a class taken at Road to California Quilt Show a couple of weekends ago. I was able to finish 8 blocks in class and need to make another 8. This was a really fun technique where you use wavy strips and top stitch them down on one another. Every one's blocks ended up different sizes depending on how much of the previous strip you covered up. Once you get going they are pretty easy to make. There are also triangle pieces that are layered on and the class sample had crystal embellishments.
Not sure how far I will get this week as the other project I am working on are the Chunky Churn Dash blocks for a block exchange that is due at the end of February. Have all the pieces cut out and they should go fast, but need to make about 50 or them!
Hope you are all working on something fun this week. Check out all the other great projects at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report January 29, 2012
Here I am with January almost gone and this is my first Stash Report of the year. With a Trip to Road to California Quilt Show and a workshop this month at Memory Lane Quilt Shop with Bonnie Hunter, I did my fair share of shopping. Purchased some blacks, a cheddar, more pinks and browns for the Dear Jane Quilt, and another great Bali Pop at Road- this one is called Cherry. Sandi and I also picked up some additional batik fat quarters for Scrappy Layered Log Cabin class at Road.
I am also happy that I get to report a finish! Below is the Lakeside Mystery class that I took at Road, the pattern is called Candy Hearts by Tracey Brookshier. It was a fun evening and I actually was able to finish all the blocks. I added a couple of borders and used up the remaining fabric for the backing. This one is ready to go in the quilting que!
So here are the numbers for this month, still in the negative, but hope to finish a couple of more projects soon.
Used this week: 8.0yards
Used YTD: 8.0 yards.
Purchased this week: 13 yards
Purchased YTD: 13 yards.

Design Wall Monday
Here it is January 17th and I am finally getting around to posting for the first time this year. I have started this year in a new job, that at the moment, is leaving me very little time for sewing!
My first Design Wall of the year finds me working, as usual, on several projects. I did find time to take a day off last Wednesday for a Bonnie Hunter Workshop here in San Diego. Scrappy Trip around the World is the quilt, and I was able to complete nine blocks by the end of the day. A very easy, fun quilt that uses up a lot of scraps. Still have 11 blocks to go.
Also in the works is Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt "Orca Bay". Working on the Ohio Star Blocks and still have the larger String Pieced blocks to go before putting this one together. Will post pictures of progress next week.
Will be on my way on Friday to Road to California Quilt Show in Ontario with Sandi, where we are taking a Scrappy Log Cabin Quilt class with Karen Eckmeier and the Lakeside Mystery Class. Looking forward to a quilty weekend and a little shopping!!
