Design Wall Monday

Greetings from Mammoth CA, where we just got some much needed snow.

This week I am working on Scrap Crystals, my UFO for February. This was started in a workshop in October 2014 with Bonnie Hunter.
Sandi, Bonnie and I.

I have two of the blocks done and a whole big pile of broken dish units to sew into the rest of the blocks. Busy sewing this afternoon.

What is on your design wall this week?? Check out more at Patchwork Times.
Have a great week sewing and stay warm!

Design Wall Monday

Happy Monday All.

This week I will be working on yet another Bonnie Hunter Pattern, called Scrap Crystals.
I have two of the 20 blocks completed and almost all the 684 blue/neutral half square triangles done and ready to sew into Broken Dish units.

This was started back in Oct 2014 in a workshop with Bonnie. Check out the finished quilt here.
Hope to finish this by the end of February to keep up with Twelve in Fifteen!

Stash Report

A Finish! Yes this week I am able to report my first finish of 2015.
Grand Illusion!

This was Bonnie Hunter's Mystery quilt from Nov 2014 and will finish at 90x90, another large quilt. I really like how this turned out, lot's of movement. I have a turquoise backing ordered from Sew Batik for this one.

Also completed was my block for Sunshine Quilters which will be turned in tomorrow night.
This was a super easy block to make and it will be interesting to see all the others and how it is arranged to make the quilt. All were to be made in Valentines fabrics.

Thankfully no adds this week, so here are the numbers. Still in the red, but making progress. Now on to the next UFO!

Used this week: 16 yards.
Used YTD: 16 yards.
Purchased this week: 0 yards.
Purchased YTD: 19 yards
Net Fabric used in 2015: -3 yards.

On the Design wall this week is the Feathered Star project from the workshop taken at Road to CA Quilt Show. One more Feathered star to go and then the setting triangles and blocks. This is a future UFO for this year.

Also going to finish up the Grand Illusion Quilt, and get going on UFO for February which is another Bonnie Hunter Pattern called Scrap Crystals.

Pretty ambitious for this week. Hope you have plenty of sewing time this week and can check out the other Design Walls at Patchwork Times.

Design Wall

It has been one busy week, first a trip to Road to California quilt show, where I was able to take a couple of great classes and then a quick turn around to a skiing/sewing week in Mammoth Lakes.

Sandi over at Kwiltnkats was my partner for the Quilt Show where we took the Batik Feathers Class with Donna Lynn Thomas. It was a great class where we learned some new tips and how to use a new ruler, the Omnigrip on point ruler.

Here I am with Donna and my finished block.

The next day was spent viewing the show and shopping! Later that evening we took a Mystery Class using Downtown Abby Fabrics.

Downton Abby Mystery Quilt

Here is Sandi with her quilt, Kookaburra, that was entered in the show.

Here are all the great things that I found. More on this in a later post.

So now I am here in Mammoth, working on my Grand Illusion Quilt this week. The Blocks are done, the sashing done and ready to put together. But wait! I forgot to cut the right size squares for the sashing. Oh No! Guess I will get as far as I can this week and finish up on my return. Guess I won't be making the parade this month!

Hope you are working on a great project this week. Get some great ideas at Patchwork Times.

Design Wall Monday

This week I am making progress on my Grand Illusion Quilt.
The units are finished and I have 3 blocks assembled. Only 22 more to go!
Then the sashing and borders. Hope to finish in time for the Parade over at 52 Quilts!

This next week I will be making my annual trip with Sandi, over at Kwiltnkats, to Road to California Quilt Show. We try to go every year and take a class or two. This year we are taking a class called Batik Feathers by Donna Lynn Thomas, and a Mystery Quilt class that involves Downton Abbey Fabrics. Looking forward to both classes and seeing the show.

Batik Feathers.

Hope this week finds you working on something fun and getting it completed!
