Design Wall Monday August 6, 2012.

This week I am on vacation!!  Visiting family this week in the Sacramento area. Of course the Janome is traveling with me as my Sister and I have a block project that we are working on.  I hope to also work on more of the Dear Jane Blocks. Below are the latest finishes.

I have also been working in the string blocks for my Jamestown Landing quilt- another Bonnie Hunter pattern, which is featured in her new book, String Fling. Check it out at Quiltville. I love making these string blocks and it uses up all those small little pieces from the stash. Only 110 more to go!

What are you working on this week?  Check out all the other projects at Patchwork Times.

Happy Monday!!

This week on my Design wall are the Blocks for the SD Humane Society quilt that Sandi, over at kwiltnkats, and I are working on. All of the pieces for the block are cut and ready to go. Will get those complete this week so we can put the whole thing together and have finished by the middle of August.

I am also continuing to work on the Pink and Brown Dear Jane quilt. On vacation in Mammoth last week, I was able to complete 12 more blocks and now have the first and most of the second row completed. Below is the layout with sashing and cornerstones. I have decided to sew the rows together as I go, so it looks like something is getting completed!!

Have a great week and happy sewing!!

Dear Jane is Back!!

If you have been following my Blog, you know that I started a Dear Jane Quilt-or as Brenda calls it- a Baby Jane Quilt, last year at Empty Spools Seminar in Asilomar, CA.  I was able to take the class with Brenda Papadakis who drafted and published all the blocks in her Dear Jane Book. My wonderful quilting friends gifted me with about 25 blocks last year, and I was able to complete another 25 last year in the class, but did not work on it all when I returned home.

Fast forward to last week, where I was once again able to return to Asilomar and take Brenda's class again, along with many other "Janiacs" who returned for more fun with all those 41/2 inch blocks. We sewed and sewed for 5 straight days, sharing our finished blocks and getting to know one another, while making this amazing quilt.  Below are the 30 blocks that I was able to finish last week.  Almost half way there with only 89 more blocks to go!!!! ( Yes, there are 169 blocks in the center of the quilt)

Beware, this is an addiction, and I am determined to finish this quilt by next year and show it at next year's class (yes, I have already signed up for a return trip next March and hope to start another in Red/White/Blue)
Empty Spools Seminars is a unique experience with many well know instructors. If you ever have the opportunity to attend, I highly recommend it!

Hope you are working on something fun this week!

Sunday Stash Report June 24, 2012

Boy, it has been awhile since my last post!  I do have a finish to report- Woodland Clover is done!. It was finished on our June retreat a couple of weeks ago. What a great time we all had! Below is the finished quilt top- which has been added to the quilting que. This one will go to Joe- he was the inspiration for the green and the shamrocks!

I was also completed my nine patch blocks for the Crab Apple swap. They are due on June 30th and it was nice to get them all finished.

This Table Runner was also completed during our retreat- Still needs some borders- but just in time for Fourth of July. The pattern is from Cozy Quilt Shop and went together very quickly.

Unfortunately, I have a number of acquisitions that I have to report. Purchased the batiks below and more Kona Black, all from Cozy Quilt Shop. I always like to have some Kona Black around, just in case.

So for the last couple of weeks it was a wash- I added almost as much as I used!

Used this week: 13.0 yards.
Used YTD: 83.5 yards.

Purchased this week: 12.0 yards.

Purchased YTD: 31.5 yards.

Net fabric used in 2012: 52.0 yards

Hope you had better results this week!  Check out the other reports at Patchwork Times.

Happy Memorial Day and a Big Thank You for all those that have served!

This quilt will be going up today on one of the walls in my house. I usually get the red/white/blue quilts up before Memorial Day and will take them down after Labor Day. Just a little behind this year!

This week finds me still working on the Woodland Clover quilt. I now have 30 blocks complete and some of the units done for the border section. I have a great shamrock fabric that I will be using for the inner border and the outer border. Below are the completed blocks and the fabric.

Have a great week and enjoy the Holiday!  Check out all the other Design Wall's at Patchwork Times.
