UFO Finish March 31, 2013

The Brown and Pink Dear Jane is finally finished!

My journey with Jane started in April 2011 with 25 of the blocks given to me from my quilting friends for my 50th birthday. I decided to only make the center the blocks, there are 169 of them, and two years later it is finally finished.

In April 2011 I had the opportunity to go to Brenda Papadakis class in Asilomar. There I was able to meet other Janiac's, learn many of the tips and tricks to making the blocks, and spend time with Brenda-she is an amazing woman.

Last year, in June 2012, I returned for a second time to Brenda's class in Asilomar and reunited with other classmates from around the country. We had some finished quilts to celebrate and worked on more of those addicting blocks. My goal was to finish the quilt in time for Brenda's class in 2013.

Fast forward to March 2013, and with the help of my friend Sandi, and lots of encouragement from DH, I was able to complete the quilt in time for my class at Asilomar last week, and get started on the Red/White/Blue DJ.  Unfortunately, Brenda had a fall and broke her arm and was unable to teach, but Laura Fraga stepped in at the last minute, and did an outstanding job. Laura is a applique expert and taught us all her tricks-we all became experts by the end of the week. She also showed us different ways to make some of the trickier blocks. Thank you Laura!!

This was my extra credit #13 UFO and unfortunately the March UFO, Jeweled Trees, was not touched. Will have to add it to April!

Design Wall Monday March 11,2013

Making progress on Dear Jane......

Have finished 9 rows of my Dear Jane Quilt, and have two more almost complete and ready to add. My goal is to have finished, quilted and bound before I head off to Asilomar on March 25th to attend Brenda's Dear Jane class. I will be starting a new Dear Jane in Red/White/Blue at this class. Don't you just love all these little blocks!

No progress on the Jeweled Forest- will have to wait until the Jane is complete. What will you be working on this week?  Check out all the other Design Walls at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report March 10, 2013

This week I have only additions- no subtractions. Found myself on the San Diego Quilt Run with Sandi and we hit a few of our favorite shops, Rosie's, Country Loft, and Memory Lane. Purchased a number of fat quarters in Reds, Blues and Neutrals for the next Dear Jane Quilt that I will be working on.

My only finish this week was a block for Sunshine Quilt Guild this coming Tuesday night.

Design Wall Monday March 4, 2013

Happy Monday!

This week I will still be working on my Dear Jane Quilt. Only 4 more rows to go!! Will post photos later this week. Also on the Design Wall is my March UFO: Jeweled Forest. This is a pattern from the December 2009 issue of  McCalls Quilting, and is entirely paper pieced. I really enjoy paper piecing, so looking forward to working on this one.

Have a great week and hope you get lots of sewing time in!
