Design Wall Monday January 28, 2013

This week finds me on a much needed ski vacation in Mammoth Lakes. Lots of snow here this year! So when we are done skiing I am working on my projects. The Janome always travels with me. The first project that needed to be finished by today are the neutral strings blocks for a Block Exchange.  I have about 24 of them done and need to make 38 of them.

Next I have the blocks made in one of the classes from Road to California Quilt Show. This was from Marti Michell class Seven Sisters Simplified and turned out to be a great way to make this block with NO set in seams! Below is a close up of the blocks and a picture of Marti with my blocks. It was a fun class.

The last thing on my design wall are blocks made in the second class at Road. This was a Mystery Class by Karen Sievert. (See Karen with my blocks below) The Pattern is called "Expect the Unexpected"  It has two different blocks that create a secondary pattern. Below are my blocks. This is a BIG quilt, 90x104, and will most likely be on my design wall for weeks to come.

What are you working on this week! See a multitude of other projects at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report Jan 27, 2013.

The first report of the year!

After a trip to Road to California Quilt show this weekend, I have only additions to report. Purchased some additional neutrals for a class taken at Road, along with some blacks for a future project.  I also could not resist the Liberty Table Runner below- I love anything patriotic. Looking forward to making an easy project for a change.

So I have started the year in the red! Will have to get something finished to turn this around fast.

Design Wall Monday January 7, 2013

Happy Monday All!!  It has been a bit rainy here in San Diego, but should be clear and sunny the next few days.

This week I have two projects going. The first is to finish up the Easy Street Blocks. The corner pieces and one of the blocks are all complete, so will be working on the other block- there are 16 of those to put together.

The second project are neutral string blocks that are part of an exchange with a group of quilting friends. We have to make 36- 9 inch string blocks that can be used in a number of different Bonnie Hunter projects. The inspiration was from her newest book, "String Fling". Check it out-there are a lot of great patterns.

Check out Patchwork Times for inspiration!  Have a great week!

Hard to believe that 2012 is almost over!  Happy New Year All-Bring on 2013!

This week I am buried in all the pieces for Bonnie Hunter's Mystery. This morning the second to last clue was reveled, and tomorrow brings the big finish. I am liking what is happening so far and love the colors! Below are all the pieces waiting to be sewn together. Today some of them will be used in larger triangle units.

Looking forward to tomorrow's finish.  What are you working on for the New Year? Check out all the other design walls at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report December 30, 2012

Hope the Holidays are finding everyone well and spending time with family and friends.

The final Stash Report of the year!  So, after a few more additions this week-needed a couple of more limey greens for the Easy Street Mystery, here are the final numbers for the year. After all is said and done only 9 yards used this year. Not great! This year I am determined to use up what I have and keep the adds to a minimum. I am also going to try to finish a project a month. Last year I was trying to quilt a project a month- but that didn't work. Will get the list together this month-it is always good to have a plan and a goal!
