Design Wall Monday April 25, 2011

This week finds me working on the Wine Country Quilt that is my UFO for April. I have only completed the first step so have a ways to go. Will have to get busy this week to meet the April 30 deadline. Wish me luck!

I have also joined the Quiltmaker Mystery Quilt that started in the most recent issue of Quiltmaker Magazine. My friend Sandi (aka Kwiltnkats) is the online hostess for this project. Check it out at Quilters Club of America and see if it is something you might want to tackle! You may have to join-but it is free.  Check out my fabric choices below- all but one, were from my stash. What is on your design wall this week?

Sunday Stash Report April 24, 2011

Happy Easter to All!

I missed last weeks report as I was in my Dear Jane Class at Asilomar working on the blocks below. What a great time I had with our instructor, Brenda Papadakis and all the ladies in the class. We learned lots of tricks to put these 4.5" blocks together. I was able to make 25 blocks and 2 of the triangle wedges while in class. If you ever have a chance to take a class with Empty Spools Seminars at Asilomar, I highly recommend it!

Unfortunately I do not have much to report in the past two weeks, except a couple of purchases. Could not resist the Quilt Shops in Pacific Grove and in Paso Robles!

Used this week: 0 yards.
Used YTD: 112.0 yards.

Purchased this week: 3 yards.

Purchased YTD: 25.0 yards.
Net Fabric Used in 2011: 87.0 yards.

Make sure you check out all the other stash reports at Patchwork Times.

Design Wall Monday April 11, 2011

I have to share an early surprise for the big "50" birthday that will happen next week. I am the proud owner of 28 blocks to use in My Dear Jane Quilt that I hope to start this year. Many Thanks to my friend Sandi (aka kwiltnkats) for organizing the block making with family and friends. I know it wasn't easy, but the results were amazing-see below.

I have always wanted to make a Dear Jane Quilt and have been collecting pink and brown fabrics just for that purpose. It will be very special to include all of these blocks in the finished quilt.

My other birthday surprise is a trip to Asilomar in Pacific Grove, CA, where I will be taking a Dear Jane Workshop with Brenda Papadakis!! Guess I will be starting that Dear Jane Quilt sooner than I thought! Will keep you all posted on the progress.

This week I finished up the Lakeside Mystery Quilt- used up 12.75 yards for top and back. It always feels so good to use up stuff from the stash! Was very good and did not make any purchases this week!

I also finished the blocks for this weeks Guild Meeting at Sunshine- We were given the white and yellow fabrics and had to add our own flower prints and green for the leaf blocks. I really like they way they turn out- so hope I can win these!

Design Wall Monday April 4, 2011

Happy Monday All!

This week I am starting work on UFO #4- Wine Country. This is a pattern from Cozy Quilt Shop and is made up of primarily 2.5 inch strips. I am hoping it will go together pretty fast, but I am making it in queen size, so it is a large quilt. Below are the first blocks- I have to make 99 of these.

Have a great week and don't forget to check out all the other great projects going on at Patchwork Times.

Stash Report Sunday April 3, 2011

This week I used up 11 yards for the Monster Quilt. Purchased 1 yard for binding, for a quilt started in a Mystery Class at Road to California Quilt Show in January. The quilt is called Point of View by Cathy Farris. One of the Guilds that I belong to in San Diego will be hosting Cathy on April 18. I hope to have the quilt finished by then. Just have to sew on the pieced border and add 3 more borders. Cathy gave us some great ideas on how to finish the center with applique, but since I am not a huge fan of applique, I will be quilting something in the center on the Longarm.

Here is my report for this week:

Used this week: 11.0 yards.
Used YTD: 99.25 yards.

Purchased this week: 1 yards.
Purchased YTD: 22.0 yards.
Net Fabric Used in 2011: 77.25  yards.

Have a great week and don't for get to check out all the other stash reports at Patchwork Times.

2011 UFO Challenge April 1, 2011

The Monster Quilt is finished!!  It is so nice to have this one done and I really love it.

There is a cute poem that I will either stitch or paint around the white border after it is quilted. It goes like this:

"There are big scary Monsters under the bed
And every night they must be fed.
They love to eat fabric; it's their favorite food~
It puts them in the very best mood.
So the lesson is clear"  consider your plight~
Keep buying more fabric... or be dinner tonight!

Bring on the next UFO! and don't forget to check out all the other finished UFO's at Patchwork Times.
